What it does

Fine Print is a Chrome extension that scans Terms of Service, Privacy Policies, and other legal documents for red flags. It reads the page you're on, identifies concerning clauses, and shows results as a plain-English list. Click any finding to jump straight to the relevant text, highlighted on the page.

It runs entirely in your browser. No data is sent anywhere, no account is needed, and it works offline. Free to use, no strings attached.

How it works

Detects legal documents

Automatically recognizes Terms of Service, Privacy Policies, and similar legal pages based on URL and content patterns.

Scans for red flags

Checks for data selling, forced arbitration, irrevocable content licenses, silent terms changes, and more across 15 concern categories.

Plain-English results

Findings are shown in clear, non-legal language. Each result is rated by severity so you know what actually matters.

Click-to-highlight navigation

Click any finding to scroll to the exact clause in the document, highlighted so you can read it in context.

Private and offline

Everything runs locally in your browser. No data is collected, no servers are contacted, no account required.

Free, no catch

No premium tier, no ads, no data monetization. Fine Print is free because understanding what you agree to shouldn't cost money.

Try it on sample documents

We created two fictional Terms of Service pages to demonstrate what Fine Print catches. One is fair and transparent, the other is packed with red flags.

Fair example

Good Terms Coffee Co.

A fictional coffee shop with clear, honest terms. Plain language, no hidden clauses, reasonable data practices. This is what good terms look like.
